The lab

Explore the MEKALUMI engineering lab

A virtual workshop where children build devices from parts and test them in engineering simulations. Here is what it includes today, and how you will open it once it is published.

Preparing for launch

The browser version of the lab is being prepared. This button will open it once it has been published and checked.

What the lab includes

  • 12 engineering engines

A simulation engine for each area, from mechanics and electrical circuits to optics, fluid networks and control systems.

  • 120 checked lessons

10 lessons in each of the 12 areas, each built around an experiment.

  • 2D and 3D constructors

Devices are built from virtual parts, on a flat plan or in three dimensions.

  • Creator Studio

A tool for teachers, with a profile for each of the 12 areas. It is still evolving.

  • Designed for offline use

An installed lab is designed to keep working without the internet; lessons travel as files.

  • Built for many languages

The lab has its own localisation system, so that it can be translated like this website.

Open the lab

The lab will open in the browser at its own address. It is being prepared for launch and is not publicly available yet.

Where things stand

  • The browser version of the lab is being prepared at its own address and is not publicly available yet.
  • The Android version has been tested on an emulator with 2 GB of memory; tests on real phones are still ahead.
  • Lesson packs are not publicly available yet.
