Learning that does not wait for a signal
MEKALUMI is designed so that a lab installed on a device keeps working without the internet. New lessons can travel as files, from person to person.
How it is meant to work

Lessons are files
A lesson is packed into one .mekapack file. Like a photo or a document, it can be copied to another device.

Share without the internet
Use whatever works locally: a memory card, a USB cable, Bluetooth or a school’s local network.

No physical equipment
Batteries, motors, sensors and beams are virtual. Nothing has to be bought, delivered or repaired.

Calculations on the device
Engineering simulations run locally on the phone or computer, not on a distant server.

Internet only for new material
A connection helps to get new lessons and updates, but an installed lab should not need it to work.
Example scenario
One download, a whole class

A teacher downloads new lessons once, at a place with internet access.

At school, the teacher copies the lessons to students’ phones with a cable or a memory card.

Students experiment in class and at home, without using mobile data.
This shows how the system is designed to be used. It will be tested together with schools after the public release.
What has and has not been tested
- Tested: The Android version has been tested on an emulator with 2 GB of memory.
- Not yet confirmed: Work on real phones with 2 GB of memory has not been confirmed yet.
- Not yet confirmed: Not every device and browser has been tested. What has been checked will be published.

This website is light and needs no apps or accounts. It is not an offline app itself: the offline features belong to the MEKALUMI lab.
